Young Jeezy recently spoke on his Internet presence and why, despite rappers like Diddy, Eminem and Jim Jones making a name for themselves on Twitter, he has decided to avoid the social networking and promotional tool.
In addition to Twitter, the "Snowman" also said his new Thug Motivation 103 album was still being worked on.
"I'm back at it," Jeezy said in an interview about his upcoming album. "Yeah, yeah, working on it right now while I'm on the tour. I got the studio bus out tryin' to finish it up...Nah, I don't do the Twitter. I think they just got [mine] up just to get information out, you know what I'm saying? I ain't on there. That ain't what I do. That's not good, that's like the police [watching you]. I don't want that. I'm not Twit, that's what y'all calling it? I'm not Twittin' tweets." (DJ Jay's)
Fellow Atlanta, Georgia-based rapper T.I. previously explained his reasons for not getting down with Twitter.
"I'm not a computer guy, don't do it," Tip explained in a video. "I'm old school. Eh man, it's not my style, not my swag. I'm an old fashioned type of dude, I'll write you a letter and hand 'em to some pigeons and let 'em fly to you. Put a letter in the box and let it float to your side of the country. I ain't on the computer sh*t, that ain't me...Not for me, not for me. No offense to those that do it, Twit on playa. People got 'The King' baby, just not on Twitter." (ATL Hustlers)
While Jeezy and Tip have passed, urban artists like Diddy recently helped Ashton Kutcher become the first person to reach one million followers.
"EMERGENCY," Diddy wrote last spring. "The race is close. it's imperative that a human being and not a news company reaches the 1 million mark first! Follow @Aplusk now...Ashton just neds 2,000 more to reach 1,000,000!! Let's go people! Add him now!! Ashton reached 1,000,000!!! Congratulations @aplusk!" (Diddy's Twitter)
Twitter has become a popular tool for a wide range of urban artists.
Artists with Twitter accounts include: 50 Cent, 9th Wonder, Rapper Big Pooh, Questlove, Q-Tip, Soulja Boy, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Fabolous, Charles Hamilton, Rhymefest, DJ Green Lantern, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Fat Joe, DJ Drama, Lil Cease, Jean Grae, Glasses Malone, Murs, Noreaga, Snoop Dogg and more.
