Soulja Boy was charged with obstruction after telling officers that people gathered at an abandoned Georgia house were shooting a music video. Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton said Friday that when officers arrived Wednesday night to investigate complaints, almost half of the 40 people assembled fled by foot. Later, a man identified as DeAndre Cortez Way, Soulja Boy's real name, returned and said the group was shooting a video. Way was charged with obstruction and bonded out of the Henry County jail on Thursday. A telephone call to his publicist was not immediately returned. (Associated Press)
Police official Jason Bolton has briefly spoken on the incident.
Police were called to the scene around 9 p.m. following complaints that a group of people were hanging out at the possibly abandoned house. When officers approached the group, everyone scattered. Capt. Jason Bolton summed it up: "He just ran from the police, and then he decided to come back" for his car, a white Range Rover. (Pop Eater)
Aside from his own album, the rapper recently said he has been tagged by Kanye West for help on Yeezy's next project.
"I'm working on Kanye's next album right now," Soulja Boy revealed in an interview over the summer. "We working together on production because he makes beats and I make beats. Right now I'm remixing a couple of records for him. I'm actually working on [Kanye's] album while he's working on my album." (Rap Up)
