Police arrest man, charge him with 90 felonies

VIRGINIA BEACH - Police in Virginia Beach made several felony arrests this week, including one man who has been charged with 90 felony counts.

Richard Richardson Jr., 19, is suspected in a Sept. 10 break-in at which two women were sexually assaulted and a juvenile male was shot. He is also suspected in a Sept. 7 armed robbery. The charges against him include two counts each of rape, forcible sodomy and animate sexual penetration. He also faces numerous counts involving robbery and abduction, and more than two dozen firearm charges and more than two dozen conspiracy charges.

Police have also made the following arrests:

* Steven Shimko, charged with armed robbery of a Chanello's Pizza restaurant on Indian River Road on Nov. 10.
* Jamaal Denzel Brown, 21, charged with four counts of robbery and three counts of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony, related two a robbery on Nov. 21 on Baker Road. He and four juveniles were arrested and charged with this robbery.
* Terry Polite, an 18-year-old Norfolk resident, charged along with a juvenile co-defendant with an armed robbery over the weekend on Davis Street.
* Jerome Warren Hodges, a 45-year-old Portsmouth resident, and Milton Herbert White, a 29-year-old Norfolk resident, each charged with six counts of armed robbery, one count of armed burglary and various firearm counts. The charges stem from a home invasion over the weekend on Justin Court.
