J Woo A.K.A Mr.Ghetto Spokesman, Johnnie Cook III was born and raised in Ypsilanti Michigan area. He has lived the life most rappers write rhymes about, but never experience, drugs, crimes, jail. Growing up in one of the roughest and toughest of “ghettos” of Michigan area, It was not easy for him. I remember when people used to be scared to come to my hood” Says J Woo”. During his downward time when he was not wrapped in street life” with his day to day hustle, but his hustle became a huge revolving door with several divergence with the law and the need for more funds to pay expensive fines.
J Woo needed to develop a plan on keeping him out of jail and even more serious tip”, out of a casket! He was tired of going in and out of jail and taking the risks with the day-to-day hustles and not having enough money to survive.
After receiving the essentials for developing a musical talent, he looked at music as his way to escape the live that he was living by doing what he loves”, making music. J Woo has always had musical talent ever since he was a young boy, learning later in his 20’s he realized he had skills with flowing and rhyming, having a voice that reaches people inspiring others to believe.
From that point on it was set”, he was going to put his real life experiences into his music. J Woo is one of the hottest rappers to come out of the Midwest J Woo started recording music in 2003 with a long time friend Young Boogie, they formed a group called Military Minds. Laying the first track, titled “Middle of the Night” featuring the late but dearly missed Demarcus Graham aka. D. “When my hommie D passed away back in 2004 I realized that life is to short, and you never know when it’s your time to go, cause I could have died that night too”, “But the Lord was with me”.
Some of J Woo musical inspirations expand throughout all musical genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, Blues, and Gospel music came from artists such as Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Tupac, Curtis Mayfield & Donny Hathaway to name some of the many artists.
“They talk about real life situations and understand what it means to struggle in this world”, He also states "Though there are many great musical inspirations that I have urbanized my artistry from, my greatest inspirations is God and my family. J Woo’s yet to be the next hottest rapper to hit the world with his fluid-like flow charisma, superior delivery, and in your face punch lines, with sharp and authentic lyrics he is most surely the next big thing to hit the world over.
He fits the mold of an exemplary hardcore rapper, but he can design a catchy hook that allows his music to cross over to numerous markets. Currently J Woo has been getting nothing but good feed back from such people as Anthony Scoe Walker who is an A&R at Suave House Records, Detroit DJ Young Mase aka the general the hottest mix-tape host in Detroit and many other local artists through out Michigan.
