The Album Called A Mixtape is S.P.O.T.'s debut solo album. It started off as a project for a mixtape and became the album called a mixtape. S.P.O.T. was two songs into the project when he was presented with an opportunity to meet with a major label. We believe this was the turning point because his focus changed and he approached the project with the thoughts of making an album. S.P.O.T. said I just wanna do something different because everybody's flooding the mixtape market He took it one step further and decided that he would do his debut solo album without any features. After working with various groups during his career he realized that it was time to do a true solo album. S.P.O.T said It was easier this way because win or loose I was working with the one person we can always count on which is ourselves The album called a mixtape is a personal collection that takes you thru various emotions with a mixture of political, spiritual and feel good songs. He definitely has a good ear for production and a flow that seems like he can rhyme over any beat.
