(NY Daily News) A California man found $500,000 worth of cocaine stashed in the door panels of his used van, according to local reports.
San Jose psychologist Charles Preston told the Mercury News that he had no idea that the 2008 Chrysler Town and Country was loaded with blow when he bought it for $14,000 from Thrifty Car Sales in Santa Clara in May 2010.
Preston said a mechanic discovered more than a dozen cellophane-wrapped drug packages after he brought the van in for a tune-up in August.
Cops examined the van and then warned Preston to get rid of it because the previous owner could come looking for it.
"I just want to get rid of the van. I don't want it in front of my house," Preston told the Mercury News. "Somebody could just come and want the car and run me off the road. When I drive now, I'm always looking around."
The owner of Thrifty Car Sales said he's willing to replace the vehicle.
