MOBILE, Ala. -- Mobile police arrested Victor Reed, 22, this morning on attempted murder and first-degree robbery charges in connection with an Oct. 17 carjacking in north Mobile. Reed was taken to Mobile County Metro Jail, where he was being held without bail this afternoon. Jail records list Reed's home as being in the 100 block of Ann Street.
The incident occurred at Ann and Adams streets, Cpl. Charles Bagsby Jr., a Mobile police spokesman, said today.
Bagsby said the victim, a 34-year-old man, was in a 2004 Ford Taurus when two men unknown to him approached.
"One of the subjects shot the victim as he remained in the vehicle," Bagsby said. "The subjects then pulled the victim from his vehicle and shot him again, leaving him in the street."
Bagsby would not identify the man who was shot. No description was given of the other man involved in the carjacking, he said. The car was recovered two days later at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Old Shell Road, Bagsby said.
Reed was arrested about 9:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Clay Street following a tip, Bagsby said.
