MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police say a man is accused of exposing himself to teenage girls on several occasions.
According to a court document, two teenage girls called police about a man who was fondling himself and trying to lure them into his car. The girls, ages 16 and 17, told investigators the man followed them as they walked out of a store in the 2100 block of Lamar Avenue, Monday, December 8, 2008. The teens say the man was masturbating as he tried to lure them into his car.
Police say the teens remembered the man's license plate number and called 911 Monday night.
"That's real perverted," says nearby resident Stepanie Wright. "People really need to be aware of their surroundings and I'm glad those girls were smart and called police."
This is not the first time the suspect exposed himself to the girls. The teens told police the man had been following them home from school and exposed himself several times.
According to the court document, the girls wrote down the tag numbers of the man’s car and gave it to police. Police say the car matched the description of a vehicle that was used in an abduction, rape and kidnapping that happened October 20, 2008.
Police say they tracked the tag numbers to a car belonging to Liddell Tennial. When officers questioned Tennial they say he admitted to driving the car and placing a 2009 expiration sticker on his already expired license plate. Tennial told police that he did it because he knew his car would not pass an inspection.
Liddell Tennial has been charged with aggravated stalking and indecent exposure. He also faces charges of altering, falsifying or forging auto titles and violation of the vehicle registration law.
It is not known at this time if Tennial’s car was involved in the rape and kidnapping that happened on October 20th.
