VH1 has decided to revive its signature music documentary series “Behind the Music.” Who made the decision to cancel it? It was probably the best programming they had.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, The cable network has ordered approximately 10 new episodes of the program that launched on VH1 starting in 1997.
The network has already signed Lil Wayne to participate along with rocker Scott Weiland formerly of the Stone Temple Pilots. with the network near agreements with several other artists.
“It felt like the time is right,” said Jeff Olde, VH1 executive vp original programming. “There’s all sorts of new artists on the scene who have emerged and have these great stories. And there’s other artists that we always wanted to do the first time around.
We always hear about the show, even now,” Olde said. “It’s amazing how much affection viewers have for it.”
VH1 stopped airing regular episodes of “BTM” in 2002, with sporadic new shows broadcast until 2006. The show will recieve a slight facelift but narrator Jim Forbes will return.
