‘Koch Records’ Is No Longer. Now known as E1 Music

E1 Entertainment, the parent company of Koch Records has chosen to dissolve the company (name) in a consolidation effort to merge their portfolio of over 100 global subsidiaries under one branded umbrella.
The move which is little more than a name change comes as the urban division gears up for a hefty run with releases from D-Block, Alchemist, Juelz Santana’s Skull Gang, Havoc of Mobb Deep, and Slim Thug.

The re-branding will reportedly not affect newly indoctrinated Jim Jones status as A&R czar.

“We are looking at the best year in our history,” an excited Alan Grunblatt, General Manger of E1 Music, told AllHipHop.com. “We are just changing our name to E1 and will continue to change the game.”

Given the challenging economic times the move seems to be more a marketing/ branding effort than a strategic one. By getting the music public familiar with the E1 brand rather than the hundreds of other indie brands they’ll be able to build the empire as a household name.
