SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Investigators said that a man died after being stabbed with a stick in a fight with his brother at their Spartanburg apartment.
David Lee Pitts, 51, was found bleeding about 8:30 p.m. Monday night on the porch of a unit at the J.C. Bull Apartments on Marion Avenue.
A police report listed the Marion Avenue apartment as the address for both brothers. Police said that David Pitts was cut on his arm and the Spartanburg Coroners Office said Tuesday that the cut caused massive bleeding that killed him.
Investigators said that David Pitts and his brother, Donald Pitts, 45, were fighting and that Donald Pitts used the stick to defend himself.
Donald Pitts was at the apartment when police arrived and was taken in for questioning.
No charges had been filed as of Tuesday and investigators said that they are waiting to hear from the solicitor’s office about whether Donald Pitts will be charged.
