Michael Vick's brother nailed for DUI

NORFOLK - Former football star Marcus Vick was arrested in Norfolk early this morning and charged with driving under the influence.

Police spokesman James Robertson said Vick, 24, was pulled over around 2:15 a.m. on Armistead Avenue after a brief police pursuit that began on Granby Street.

Vick - who starred at Warwick High School before a promising career at Virginia Tech was cut short by legal and disciplinary problems - was booked on a DUI charge and was also issued citations for driving on the wrong side of the road, reckless driving, eluding police and driving on a suspended license. He was released on bond early this morning, a spokesman for the city's magistrate said.

The passenger in Vick's car, 24-year-old Delicia Cordon of Miami, was charged with being drunk in public.
According to the police report, a uniformed bicycle patrol officer saw Vick and Cordon sitting in a vehicle in the 200 block on Granby Street, having an apparent altercation. When the officer approached and asked Vick for his license, Vick fled the scene at a high rate of speed, police spokesman Chris Amos said. A description of the vehicle was broadcast, and Vick was pulled over a few minutes later.

Vick grew up in Newport News but currently lives in Suffolk.

After his standout career at Warwick, Vick attended Virginia Tech. He showed flashes of brilliance on the field, but after various arrests, traffic violations and on-field incidents, he was dimissed from the team on Jan. 6, 2006. Three days later, he was arrested for threatening someone with a gun in the parking lot of a Suffolk fast food restaurant. He played briefly for the NFL's Miami Dolphins but is not currently affiliated with any pro football team.

He is the younger brother of Michael Vick, the former star college and professional quarterback who is currently in a federal prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an illegal dogfighting ring that was being run out of his home in Surry County.
