A woman was shot in the head and a man was wounded at a Calumet Heights stoplight Saturday night on the South Side.
An unidentified gunman walked up to a car stopped at a stoplight in the 9300 block of South Colfax Avenue and fired multiple shots into the vehicle about 11:20 p.m., police said.
A 21-year-old woman in the car suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. A 27-year-old man in the car suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arm and was also taken to Christ Medical Center, police said.
Preliminary police reports indicated the woman was dead on the scene, however she was listed in critical condition Sunday morning, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has not been notified of a fatality as of 10:30 a.m.
The gunman fled on foot after the shooting and remained at-large Sunday morning, police said. A description of the shooter was not immediately available.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
