MULTI-PLATINUM RAPPER YOUNG JEEZY CASTED AS
"BIG NAME HIP HOP ACT" IN WRITER-ACTOR-PRODUCER
ICE CUBE'S NEW FILM, JANKY PROMOTERS
CUBE'S FIRST SCREENPLAY SINCE "FRIDAY AFTER NEXT"
WILL FEATURE HIMSELF ALONG WITH STARS YOUNG JEEZY, COMEDIAN MIKE EPPS AND TERRY CREWS
(NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 30, 2008) Multi-Platinum Rapper Young Jeezy has been casted as the "big-name hip-hop act" in writer-actor-producer Ice Cube's latest comedy, "Janky Promoters," which he will star in along with Mike Epps and Terry Crews, as well as produce alongside Cube Vision partner Matt Alvarez.
Directed by Marcus Raboy, who also worked alongside the 2002 "Friday After Next" alumni (Cube, Epps and Crews), "Janky Promoters" follows the shenanigans of a pair of shady concert promoters (Cube and Epps), self-described "Modesto's finest," who get in over their heads when they have a shot at booking a big-name hip-hop act (Jeezy). Complications come in the form of a pot-growing neighborhood nemesis named Mondo and Cube's character's son (Nickelodeon star Little JJ), who is under contract with the old man.
"Janky Promoters" is Cube's first screenplay since "Friday After Next." The film will be released by the Weinstein Co. unit Dimension, where Cube has a first-look deal.
In addition to starring in his first major film, Jeezy is currently putting the final touches on his forthcoming third major album, The Recession which will be released through CTE/Def Jam and features the smash record, "Put On" featuring Kanye West. The hip hop star also recently launched USDA2Day.com, a new blog & social networking site created to serve as "the official media source for the hood" along with the release of his latest mixtape, "The Prime Minister" which is available for free download on the site.
