Police catch fugitive sex offender in Akron

Akron -- A 39-year-old Akron man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Roswell Street by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.


Michael Johnson is charged with rape, kidnapping and a parole violation for a May 31 incident where a woman was raped at gunpoint in her home in Akron, police said.

He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Johnson is a registered sex offender, who was also wanted for failing to register.

He has a tattoo on his forearm that reads "GETTO BORN, GETTO RAISED, GETTO MADE," police said.
