MEMPHIS, TN - A Memphis police officer is off the job and facing charges of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.
Regina Thompson is accused of breaking into her ex-boyfriend's home early Monday morning, September 15, 2008, punching him and pointing a gun at him.
According to a police affidavit, Thompson climbed through a window of her ex-boyfriend's house while he was asleep. Once inside the home, Thompson is accused of punching the victim in the mouth and pointing a gun at him. The affidavit also states that Thompson then began tearing things off the wall and took clothing from the home.
When officers arrived, they found a gun and clothing in Thompson's car.
Thompson is assigned to the Organized Crime Unit.
She has been relieved of duty pending an administrative review.
Thompson is behind bars on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to be in court Tuesday morning.
