Louisiana rapper Webbie was arrested in Mississippi on Sunday (September 14) following a high speed chase that took police from the interstate to surface streets.
According to local news station WAFB, the 23-year-old rapper (real name: Webster Gradney) ignored police sirens when they attempted to pull over his 2009 Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation on I-59 at around 3:30 p.m., continuing to drive recklessly until exiting the interstate.

During the chase, Webbie collided with another vehicle, but kept going. Police stopped to attend to the victims of the other car and lost sight of Webbie's car.

Witnesses said they saw the rapper exit the Challenger and get into another vehicle -- a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria. Police later found the car with Webbie and two other men inside.

Webbie was arrested and charged with one count of felony eluding, one count of driving under the influence, and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

He was booked and jailed into the Forrest County Regional Jail.

Police later said that the small amount of marijuana was found in the abandoned Challenger. They also added that Webbie has one pending felony charge of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle because of the car crash.

The other two men were questioned and later released without charge.

At press time, it was unclear if the rapper is still being held.
