Boy Knocks Down a Grandma and Steals Her Purse

Memphis, TN -- Memphis Police need the public's help finding a young boy who was caught on surveillance video knocking down a grandma and stealing her purse.

The incident happened Monday, September 1, 2008 outside the front door of Cooper's Neighborhood Supermarket on Quince in East Memphis. Surveillance video made available to Eyewitness News Everywhere shows the boy hanging around the front door for several minutes before finding his target.

"I keep glancing over at him. He's just a little kid, nothing peculiar about him and then, pow," says victim Sandra Spragins.

She's angry about being mugged, but even more upset that the boy appeared to be so young, between the ages of 10 and 12.

"I would try my best to get somebody to sit down and talk to him that could really tell him what he's getting his self into and change his direction," Spragins says.

Spragins suffered a minor arm injury during the attack. The grocery store has pictures of the boy posted inside and is offering a reward to anyone who helps police nab him.
