*Louis Vuitton has settled a lawsuit with Sony BMG Music Entertainment for allowing its artists Da Brat, Ruben Studdard and Britney Spears to wear its famous monogram in music videos and album covers without permission.
"We believe the terms of this agreement will provide strong protection to our brand worldwide," Louis Vuitton's Nathalie Moulle-Berteaux said in a statement to the New York Daily News.
In 2006, Studdard printed his album jacket for "The Return" on Louis Vuitton monogram paper. Da Brat featured a multicolored LV print beachball in a video from 2003, while Spears drove a pink Hummer with a cherry LV monogram dashboard in her 2006 video "Do Somethin'."
"We don't make dashboards," a Vuitton spokeswoman quipped.
Details of the agreement were not disclosed, but the settlement is estimated at more than $300,000.
