Wear A Hijab And You’re Out Of A Job

Two Muslim women in Dearborn, a Michigan city with a huge Muslim population, are suing a local McDonalds after they were told that they could only work there if they removed their hijabs. This particular McDonalds is so aware of its predominately-Muslim clientele that it serves halal Chicken McNuggets (there are only 2 McDonalds in the country that do this), which makes it even more surprising that the management would not allow the two women to wear their hijabs at work.
Dawud Walid, head of the Michigan branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations, said it’s upsetting that a restaurant with such a large Muslim community around it would discriminate against Muslim women seeking jobs.

“They’ll take Muslim dollars, but won’t hire Muslim female employees,” Walid said.

I am not muslim but do know a little about other religions and cultures and the hijab is a religious statement for muslim women. They are proud women who stood up for what they believe in. Just like it was written in the article, they can take they money but can't hire them. You also sound ignorant comparing the hijab to a bandana. What does a bandana stand for other than blood, or crip, or just for keeping the sweat off your forehead. You might want to educate yourself a little more before you commment about something you have no idea about

I grew up not to far from this area, and if they religion meant so much to them they wouldn't be workin at McDonalds anyway. If they got a problem with the company they can choose not eat there, I'm sure Mikey D's aint gont loose too much sweat over it. They need to stop trippin and make that lil 7 dollars and hour!
