Jacksonville man gets life for rape, murder of blind woman

A convicted child abuser was sentenced today to life in prison for the rape and murder last year of a blind Jacksonville woman in her apartment.

Jermaine David Wilson, 24, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and sexual battery and faced 30 years to life. A 15-year-old has been charged in the death of a 13-year-old boy at a Southeast Side grocery store earlier this month, a bit of good news for a family grieving the death of a loved one.

The Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act has been signed into law and will allow the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute Civil Rights-era crimes.

Lakeland Man Delivers Girlfriend's Baby Along I-75

Jahquez was born Wednesday in the passenger seat of a 1998 green Ford Explorer on the side of Interstate 75.

The 7-pound, 8 ounce boy and his mother, Angie Franklin, 29, are fine and are expected to be back at their West Lakeland home today.
