*A rep for Janet Jackson has confirmed that the singer has left Island Records after releasing just one album under a deal signed 14 months ago.

The numbers aren't staggering, but Samuel L. Jackson's latest film, 'Lakeview Terrace', took the top spot at the box office this past weekend with $15.6 million.
