The Compton MC sold 238, 382 copies according to Nielsen’s Soundscan. As previously reported, reports initially had him in the top spot until an adjustment put him no.2 behind rock outfit Slipknot. With Young Jeezy’s new album, The Recession, hitting stores today, SOHH decided to catch up with various members of the hip-hop community to get their take on our nation’s declining economy and rising gas prices.
When it came time to start recording his third album, Def Jam rapper Young Jeezy wanted to attack a subject matter that everyone in America can relate to, the current economic recession.
Young Jeezy has a problem. Since the Georgia native blindsided the national Hip-Hop scene with 2005’s Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, there have been countless peers who have appropriated his raspy voice and ad lib centered flow to craft their own hits.
Jeezy reaffirmed his position with 2006’s The Inspiration, but rumblings are strong in 2008 about if he can still maintain his position. With his third LP, aptly titled The… Continue

Dead rapper Tupac “2Pac” Shakur, the hip-hop icon who sold more records after he was murdered than during his brief career, is the most overrated person in music, according to music magazine Blender.
Shakur tops a tongue-in-cheek list that also includes “places, trends and other junk in rock,” Blender said in its upcoming October issue, due on newsstands next week.
But while Shakur was a decent rapper with “insane rock-star charisma,”… Continue
