Kickball Coach Charged With Raping, Threatening Player, 21

TAMPA - A community kickball coach is accused of raping a 21-year-old kickball player and threatening her not to tell anyone, Tampa police said.

Andre Javon Newton, 26, of 5618 Ashmont Court, Apartment B, was held without bail at Orient Road Jail this morning. Police arrested him Tuesday on warrants charging him with felony sexual battery and felony witness tampering.

West Memphis Teen Arrested in Two Aggravated Robberies

WEST MEMPHIS, AR – Police say a West Memphis High School student has been arrested for the aggravated robberies of one convenience store.

According to Captain Donald Oakes with the West Memphis Police Department, 18 year-old Brandon Smith robbed the Flash Market convenience store at 600 Broadway Street in West Memphis.

JD’s Cafe Dupri closes leaving staff without paychecks

Jermaine Dupri’s Buckhead restaurant, Cafe Dupri, closed its doors for good last week. According to WSB-TV, the restaurant’s employees were left without paychecks or jobs. Workers had complained for weeks about bounced checks and bank notices of insufficient funds.

Pregnant Teen Shot, Teens Arrested In Neighborhood Fight

INDIANAPOLIS -- A neighborhood feud ended Monday evening with a pregnant teenager shot and several juveniles under arrest, police said.

LEVI LEE and Bryson Mills arrived on the doorstep of the Daily News last week looking bruised and battered.

MEMPHIS, TN – Police say an employee at the Westwood Swimming Pool is charged with Aggravated Rape and Criminal Exposure to HIV of a 17 year-old girl.

Man Beats Puppy With Broken Table Leg

DECATUR, Ga. -- A DeKalb County man faces animal cruelty charges after police said he beat a puppy so severely it had to be euthanized.

Lawrence Peterson, 58, was charged with felony animal cruelty after investigators found the pit bull mix puppy unresponsive in the back yard at a home on Camby Lane in Decatur Saturday. The puppy belonged to Peterson’s roommate, investigators said.
