Dad Arrested, Accused Of Pointing Gun At Tampa Paramedics

TAMPA - Kelverick Lewis thought his infant son needed to go to the hospital, and he got enraged after Tampa Fire Rescue arrived on scene Wednesday night and said the child was fine, Tampa police say.

Man Accused of Beating Roommate to Death with Hammer

KSDK -- Prosecutors have charged a man accused of beating his roommate to death with a hammer and then burying him in a crawl space under an apartment.



Schron Jackson from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Darryl Price, 52, of the 1200 block of N. 7th Street, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

MEN IN NASCAR LAWSUIT SUSPENDED: Two officials put on indefinite leave following claims of harassment from black co-worker.

*Two officials named in a $225 million harassment lawsuit by an African American, female NASCAR co-worker were suspended by the organization and placed on indefinite administrative paid leave.



While NASCAR will not name the individuals, the AP says it has confirmed that Tim Knox and Bud Moore were dismissed Friday from Kentucky Speedway. NASCAR did not give a reason for the men's suspension.

FAMU PRODUCES MOST BLACK GRADUATES: School ranks No. 1 in new finding; 1,256 blacks received bachelor degrees last year.

*A report by Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine's June 12 edition reveals that Florida A&M University in Tallahassee has the highest number of black graduates earning bachelor degrees.

Teen girl shot dead in drive-by

Gunfire from a car killed a 15-year-old girl and paralyzed another teenager at a party outside a Mt. Washington home early Sunday, police said.

8 dead in city, 1 in suburb from weekend violence

From Friday night through Sunday morning, nine people have been killed in acts of violence in and around Chicago.



About 11:05 p.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old woman wounded in a shooting on the West Side.



The shooting happened on the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue.



The woman heard gunfire and discovered she and the man had been shot, police said.

Investigators Arrest 39 Suspects in Drug Ring, Search for Two More

KSDK -- Investigators from several agencies arrested nine additional people on Monday as part of a round-up of 39 suspects in a crack cocaine ring.



Investigators said they were still looking for suspects Eddie Jackson, 53, and Jewel Allen, 31, both from St. Louis.



The suspects are accused of distributing multiple kilos of cocaine and crack cocaine in the St. Louis area between August 2006 and June 2007.
