Young killer to get new sentencing

Michael D. Taylor was too young for a death sentence when he raped and murdered a classmate at McCluer North High School in 1995, but later went to death row for a prison killing.

Bond set at $2 million for alleged killer of clerk; accomplice’s bond set at $500,000

Bond was set at $2 million during an arraignment Friday morning for the 22-year-old man charged in connection with the robbery and killing of a BP gas station clerk Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Anthony Belton, of 934 Cuthbert Rd., was charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, both with gun specifications.

Virginia killer claims he'll "be back like Jesus" after his execution

JARRATT, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia man was executed Thursday for beating and stabbing his 79-year-old neighbor to death while he and a friend ransacked her apartment.

Kent Jermaine Jackson, 26, was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m. at Greensville Correctional Center. He received a lethal injection for the 2000 murder of Beulah Mae Kaiser in Newport News.
