8 dead in city, 1 in suburb from weekend violence

From Friday night through Sunday morning, nine people have been killed in acts of violence in and around Chicago.

About 11:05 p.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old woman wounded in a shooting on the West Side.

The shooting happened on the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue.

The woman heard gunfire and discovered she and the man had been shot, police said.

Bulls Win Draft Lottery

SECAUCUS, N.J. — The Chicago Bulls do not have a head coach but they won the N.B.A.’s draft lottery on Tuesday night, jumping from ninth to first.
