Young Jeezy claims his second chart-topper on the Billboard 200 as "The Recession" starts at No. 1 this week. The Def Jam set moved 256,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, 92,000 short of the 352,000-unit start for his previous No. 1, 2006's "The Inspiration."

The recession may be in full swing, but Young Jeezy is livin’ good. His first two albums, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 and The Inspiration, served as tutorials in gettin’ money and achieving success and made him a platinum trap star. His appearance on Usher’s number one single “Love in this Club” this year made him a pop star. But Jeezy isn’t one to gloat. New York—Brooklyn was definitely in the building.
Young Jeezy performed at the Blender Theater in Manhattan last night and the out of towner treated the Big Apple crowd to a treat.
Da Snowman welcomed Fabolous (”Breathe”) and Maino (”Hi Hater”) on stage to perform with him. But the capacity crowd really went crazy when Jeezy asked them to put their lighters up and out from backstage came Lil Kim.

Michael Phelps’ run at the Olympics — eight gold medals, seven broken world records — is unprecedented, and according to Phelps he couldn’t have done it without Young Jeezy. Phelps typically listened to the Jeezy/R. Kelly collaboration “Go Getta” before hitting the pool, which Jeezy himself doesn’t find surprising. “All my music is inspirational,” he told Rolling Stone’s Evan Serpick. “You just gotta listen to the words and get what you can get out of…

Young Jeezy recently checked in with Rolling Stone from Miami, where he’s shooting the video for “Vacation,” the second single from his forthcoming album The Recession, out September 2nd. “I’m having a fuckin’ ball,” he says. “I’m on a jet ski, I’m on the beach — we’re wildin’ out.” He may be having fun now, but on the album, Jeezy (a.k.a. the Snowman) tackles the economy, politics and the struggles of poverty.
On the opening track, “The…

NEW YORK — "Mr. 17.5" is now "Mr. September 2." Young Jeezy joked Monday night that he's changing his nickname until his upcoming album, The Recession, drops.
He held a small listening session for his third LP at Katra Lounge. He's upgraded himself lyrically and spread himself out thematically, while the beats have a sinister, "Dark Knight"-like edge to them.
On "Vacation," he talks about going home to get back to reality and feeling…
