Ice Cube Debuts At #1; T.I. Sets Billboard Record

Gangsta and political rap pioneer Ice Cube displayed his independent strength once again, as the veteran’s eighth solo album Raw Footage debuted #1 on Billboard’s Rap and R&B Chart and #5 on the Top 200.

The set sold 69, 234 copies its first week and is on pace to duplicate Cube’s previous effort Laugh Now, Cry Later, which was the highest selling independent Hip-Hop release of 2006.

Ice Cube Debuts At Number Five On Billboard 200

The Don Mega debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 after pushing almost 70,000 copies of his latest independent project, Raw Footage.

Ice Cube had the top hip-hop album on the charts, but Lil Wayne joined him in the Top 10. The New Orleans star sold over 61,000 copies of Tha Carter III to land at number seven, according to SoundScan figure. To date, Weezy has sold 2.3 millions copies of his latest album.

Master P Debuts A Cable Network Among Other Things

Former Hip Hop mogul Master P has completed his image makeover with a name change and the announcement to create his own cable television channel. P's reinvention of himself as Percy Miller, his birth name, was announced earlier this week via a press release, and the creation of his Better Black Television network would seem to signal the end of the old Master P.

Lil Wayne Debuts At No. 171 On SoundScan Already?

Lil Wayne is probably platinum in the ‘hood by now thanks to Chuck T who leaked the Cash Money rapper’s album last week in response to his comments about mixtape DJs.
